n5wd: Once again, I'll have to kerchunk our KE5YAP-B repeater to maintain the link. Our repeater guru has offered, if there seems to be local users, to set up a batch Chron file to remove that necessity. Hopefully that'll happen in due course.
N6HKH: N5WD. No problem.
n5wd: ICOM offering complete D-Star repeater setup: one RF repeater, Gateway and software for $1500 and clubs who are initiating DStar for the first time (have not already put a DStar repeater on the air, eligible for $1000 rebate. For details: icomamerica.com
KG5SLG: Your making me hungry
N6HKH: Me too.
k6jm: Bruce Perrens also mentioned FreeDV 700D developments: DV using open source codec on HF performs really well with lousy SNR (-2 db!). Due to Forward Err Correction, there is some delay. To learn more, check www.rowetel.com/?p=5573.
k6jm: For those who care about Internet Labs' upcoming new products, check my notes from Dayton 2017. www.k6jm.com/wp/dayton-2017-d-star-and-digital-voice/Robin said pricing will be in $150-$250 range, depending on the model. Due Sept 2018.
k6jm: Friedrickshafen Ham Radio starts tomorrow Friday. Anyone in German and planning to attend? Jonathan G4KLX, Guus (DVMEGA) and David (BlueDV) will be there. Wish I could attend. I am currently planning to be there next year....
k6jm: (More Dayton) John K7VE mentioned they found a 1-watt RF chip that's better than the one they talked about at Dayton last year. So NWDR should be selling 1-wattSPOT boards in the future. Most RF boards run about 10 milliwatts.
