Shoutbox History

N9KO: PA7LIM Peanut program from the last DRT. I had my first QSO a few minutes ago with a Dutch ham. Setup was easy. Audio quality was less than digital voice quality, but that is expected. It will be interesting to see if this gains any traction.

N9KO: Go to www.pa7lim.nl to find out more and to download the program. If we used this program to chat during future roundtables, would our comments be nothing more than "comments from the peanut gallery"?

K6KD: N9KO - Developer says not to be used with D-STAR. (Not clear if "shouldn't" or "can't") Either way a good thing because folks don't want to pay for digital only to hear analog.

K6KD: Helped a station having intermittent trouble connecting to 002 but ok on others. Replacing server/domain by IP made difference. Brings up an issue of DNS performance and alternatives besides default service offered by ISP.

W5ZIT: I have one of the eBay "2018 Duplex MMDVM Hotspot" on line and it works exactly like the homebrew repeaters I have built. It even supports NXDN, so has the latest firmware installed for all 5 modes. Pi-Star controls this hotspot with no problems.

KE0AYJ: Big torrential downpour this afternoon.

K6KD: KE0AYJ: Andy you can change your displayed call sign to the new one at Profile | Edit Profile | Personal. It won't change how you log in, but will change what is displayed. Others can do same to display call sign in upper case if desired.

N9KO: ZUMSPOTS - HRO is showing the Zumspot kits in stock as of a few minutes ago.

k6jm: If DNS resolution is a bit slow for you, try the Google DNS servers: 8:8:8:8 and 8:8:4:4.

K6KD: Other options are OpenDNS or Level 3

K6KD: On MAC System Preferences | Network | Advanced Button | DNS Tab

k6jm: D-Star RF protocol is open and published. Codec is AMBE and proprietary and has been discussed for years. Gateway connections were developed by ICOM and are not open or published.
